    Hey Bosque,

    Not quite what I was thinking. I need a sleek, fresh, upscale logo. I am going to be a marketplace for women to buy and sell fashion. We are talking 150$ jeans and dresses that retail for $3000 dollars. I don't want to imply that your designs aren't good, they just are not a fit for what this demo is looking for. I think they just are different from what this affluent demographic likes.

    I hope you do decide to try again. let me know if you need any more feedback, hopefully this provided some clarity and more direction.

    this is cute. I do like the animated horse. The box, to me, implies packing. If there were a way to incorporate clothing, hangers, anything like that- it would add a lot.

    Based on what you have, I might suggest:
    Maybe having clothes coming out of the box... like a pair of jeans and a dress (you could even add little price tags with designer names on them ... ie- True Religion(jeans)and BCBG (dress)...)

    Just as a suggestion, from what you posted. Thanks for the entry, I hope you decide to expand on it even more.

    I do like the type of design. I am not a web designer, so I don't know what it is called. But the shading and the sleek text/animation is great :) more of that. And maybe some feminine colors in their too!

    Hey Palmateer, thanks for working on that. There is something about it I really like. It was hard for me to pick what exactly it was that I found so appealing... I think it is THECLOSETHORSE all in one word (which I think is great) but still you separated it with color, which was brilliant.

    I like the squigly design... but not the realistic horse.

    This by the way, is not your fault. It is a pet peeve of mine... I should have shared it in the brief.I grew up riding horses and for whatever reason I always have hated the look of <i>some</i> realistic horse designs. To me (and of course this is my opinion, but it is my contest post :) ) it looks cheesy. I don't know what it is, but for the most part..I am not a fan. I will say, there are some I do like. If you are feeling brave go for it!

    I hate to say it, but I see an uncanny resemblance to the eMule mascot in #1. I don’t want to be a spoilsport, but as far as I’m aware, that donkey, cute though it is, is copyrighted, so using it in a corporate logo just might not be the best of ideas (and you might not want to have your business associated with a filesharing application used mostly for, erm, legally dubious downloads) … please be fair and use original artwork.

    I want to add a comment here, because I think it might help clarify what I am looking for.

    I want to elaborate on the name a little more. A clothes horse is a kind o name for a person, typically female (and in this case, definitely). If there is a girl/woman you know with ungodly amounts of clothes, she is a "clothes horse". These type of women just collect more and more clothes, they cant get enough. Sometimes, they just buy, jut to have it. often, clothes will sit in their closet with the price tags still attached and will never be worn.

    My store is a resale/consigment for these type of women. Clothes Horses will send to me to sell to other women who love designer labels.

    So, the closet horse is sort of the "home" for women who are "clothes horses".

    I have that wasn't rude or anything. I just wanted to be sure everyone understood the name. It will help with the design (it should be a horse WITH clothes, not just a horse)

    Cross posting here because I'm not sure if you're alerted to my response to you in my other entry:

    I just saw in another post that you said your site was pink and grey, so I was going to change the aqua to pink. I will lose the horse (hey, don't worry about it, something else I can add to my portfolio. Maybe someone else will need a chic horse someday? lol) I will also make the hanger smaller. Do you like the hanger as the "C" in Closet? Is it the font that needs to be changed? What about the angle, do you want it straight on or do you like it tilted as it is now?

    Thanks again for your quick feedback. I can just imagine you laughing yourself silly over these goofy horse creations you've seen today, huh?

    I would check on the legalities of using the name brand logos on your website. I know alot of the higher end stuff will not allow anyone but actual cerified dealers/retailers the use of their name & logo. (#53 & #31) But I could be wrong. Just an FYI.

    Regarding using name brand logos, I was just taking it as promoting clothes from those designers, I wasn't taking it as copyright infringement, but it's wise to look into it. I wonder if we could do something that looks like fancy labels, just doesn't have the actual names? I'm not sure.

    The community does pretty good at finding designs that have been stolen from somewhere else. A good way to check would be to ask someone for a simple change, like "make the horse smiling" or "change the eyes", if they copied the design, they wont be able to make changes worth a damn, and you will be able to tell that they did not draw it. Its not foolproof, but I have noticed that people that steal a design, wont even bother to change something that is requested, and if they do, you can tell its not the same artist ;)

    Its definitly something you have to watch out for, make sure to check the profile for a designer to, and you can get a good idea from their designs won, and how long they have been a member - it may help you trust the work that is submitted.

    Just my .02 here...

    I think a simple way to handle this problem would be to keep your working files. Whether Photoshop, Illustrator, etc... showing your work via layers and layer comps would be ideal if the origin of anything is in question.

    @LittlePS - this certainly would remove all question, I do feel bad for people that are hyped about their new logo only to find the source a collage of bitmaps. I do say a good bet for the clients "as stated by Neticule" is to ask for variations in style, color and arrangements to the artwork, this usually weeds out the ones who don't create their own work.

    well yes, reposing my female design will mean me to do the whole process again, since i did translate the female character from my handdrawn sketch.
    i did the vector for the pose, its my own work dont worry (but then mostly i do in photoshop layer, high quality though).
    i'm not (yet) an illustrator artist, but as i know even if you already made the pose in illustrator, if you want to repose it you would have to do it per part (right?), you can change the colour scheme of each group of course, but to repose an already posed human body on some style would be another story right?
    please fix me if i'm wrong, still needs lot to learn:)

    The Other Half... i think she'd be able to alter the hue in Photoshop. I wasn't suggesting a redo of all her hard work, merely another variation of color.

    mindseye.... wow......Do people not realize that these contest holders' companies could eventually face legal issues if people use copyrighted materials when they "create" their logo?? Designing a logo means more than cut and paste. I feel for the contest holders. Some of them know this happens, but it's the others who are unsuspecting that I assume are awarding a prize for their favorite design, not knowing it's lifted from someone elses hard work. Come on, guys... give these people what they're paying for.

    just for the record not that I really care but my design came from a magazine that had a similar artwork such as the one you had posted from istockphoto. The designers on istockphotos I am sure get there ideas from the same places others here do if you look close you will see mine is different & I did not get it from that website. You are defaming designers who do use their own work but thanks for trying to throw others under the bus so you might win a contest.

    freshjolt - mindseye hasn't thrown anyone under the bus. A lot of contest holders, especially newer ones, aren't aware of the fact that some people use stock clip art in their submissions. In the long run, after the contest has ended, it's the site owner who may face legal repercussion due to someone else's negligence.

    There are a couple front-runners in this contest, neither of which is mindseye or myself, so our comments are sincere and in the best interest of the contest. There's no intent to take people down to make ourselves look good. Designs should speak for themselves. If people are doing their own work, they shouldn't have anything to worry about.
