Data Integrity, security, strength, reliability are all qualities which should be reflected in the brand.     should we be working towards "Ultima: Hosts Australia" or "Ultima Hosts: Australia" ?? Hope my question makes sense as I see the two different takes on the logo and was wondering which is correct.

    I'm not sure who you are asking about Mattleys, but most designers use AI. Logos should always be vector.

    I figured I better enter something in this contest so I did. I wasn't shooting anybody down but I was dissapointed in the lack of participation in a $500.00 contest.     the feedback is lack of constructive comments. that's why the contest not so exited. I cant create new idea because I dont know the weakness of my last eliminated design. I dont even get any rating. how could I knowhow good or bad is my design. I dont even know if I should go with new idea or improve the last design.

    Ok I see 189 designs and on your request updated designs. Yet you say: "Thats not quite doing it for us. The idea is right but the execution is off."
    Enough top designer resources here and effort and GREAT material. I think at this point it is not the designer site that is at fault here.
    If you don't have the vision about your company logo then no designer in this world can ever satisfy you.
    If you request updates to designs you like, which you did and they have been delivered several times and you still are not satisfied you should not have initiated a contest. You should put some more thought into your vision of the logo. On the one hand you requested an update regarding arrows now you say "can we lay off the arrows". You have never said this before. All it says no australian flag and no kangaroos.
    It might come as a surprise to you but most people here invested hours to offer you a design AT NO CHARGE, only for hope! I for example put 3 hours into my entry #179. I did it for free so far and it would be if I am not the winner. Do I complain, no, because I trust that the person holding a contest is serious and has a vision about what their logo should look like and guide us to that vision. In this case I was wrong. Than you just throw it all.
    The designer, especially it is true with the amount of FREE designers in this contest, is only as good as the client that hires them. Your feedback is vital. Due to your not existing vision for your own company brand you can not give us productive feedback hence you will never find a satisfying solution.
    Come back when you have a clear vision about your logo that you like done. You can also be sure that the designers here will keep an eye on the logo at Ultima Hosts Australia ( http://ultimahosts.net.au/ ). You might wanna change the (C) 2006 to (C) 2008. Seems I wasn't that much off with the vision idea.
    Quite disappointed, I am out!

    PG I said lay off the arrows as all of a sudden everyone seem to think they were required. This was never in the brief. I'll take your feedback onboard however we do have a clear idea of what we want and have stated this in the brief. I think we need to review how we reach our design goal as we haven't seen anything here yet which matches all our branding goals. Some of the designs have been good and we have given feedback and asked for modifications on these. Some have been unoriginal or just totally off the mark (I think some designers just throw anything in the ring) in which case we haven't given feedback as it is just too time consuming.

    My advice is grow a thicker layer of skin. Even though you say designers are doing this for free I don't think the designers are getting nothing out of this process. Please don't enter if you can't accept feedback, no feedback or require some sort of pat on the back. Enough said.

    The money put up is serious and I will gladly pay anyone who comes up with a logo we want to use. At the moment this hasn't happened and maybe just this format of making it a free for all doesn't work. I will keep the contest running in the hope that something comes up.

    Anyway thanks to everyone who has participated. I do appreciate your efforts.

    hello. If I have to read your rationale before working out what the logo is then its sure to be eliminated. You shouldn't need to justify a design.

    We actually gave a lot of feedback. Over 100 responses. Some of you designers need to:

    a. get a new career
    b see a therapist
    c toughen up and get with the program
    d all of the above

    Sorry none of the designs here are suitable and we definitely won't be using any.

    We actually have submited a lot of designs and many of them are professional. Some of the contest holders need to:
    a. get some eyeglasses
    b. drop the simplicity mantle-all simple designs are either overdone or done before
    c. get some guts to go ahead with things - that means leave the designer propose you something that really fits
    d. think twice before posting a contest - you might have way too overused - cliché - imagination or you are living in the past.
